The autonomic nervous system asks one question thousands of times each day: Am I safe?

When the answer is no, it protects.

Most of the time, that protective response turns off on its own. But after an injury, surgery, a car accident, emotional event, or a prolonged period of stress, it sometimes does not. The threat is gone, yet the guarding remains, hardening into chronic muscle tension that can persist for years. The client arrives in your office with pain, restricted movement, and a history that never quite adds up because the original threat is gone, but the guarding remains.

This course teaches you how to find that guarding and turn it off.

Tetherwork is an objective testing system. You establish two contact points, create a line of tension between them, and observe how the nervous system responds. A sudden change in muscle tone tells you where the problem lies. Because the guarding already exists, adding a small amount of controlled tension does not create a new problem. Instead, it briefly amplifies the protective response that is already present, making an otherwise hidden restriction easy to identify. Rather than guessing or chasing the loudest symptom, you are testing the protective system itself to identify the primary restriction driving compensation throughout the body.

The Reset is how you clear it. Rather than treating the restriction locally, in this course you will address it through the brain, where the protective loop between the nervous system and the guarded tissue is maintained. Test. Treat. Retest. Every technique produces immediate objective feedback, allowing you to know whether you have changed the system before the patient ever leaves the table.

Over three days you will learn to:

• Read the brain with your hands, using five predictable activation centers as your training ground

• Test for sympathetic dominance with an assessment and determine whether the source is structural or nonstructural (memories, emotional, etc.)

• Work the sympathetic chain from the cervical ganglia to the sacrum and coccyx

• Clear the peripersonal space and test and treat the emotional system through the acupuncture meridians

• Run the Phrenic Nerve Reset, a shortened protocol that stands on its own in twenty minutes

• Treat the nerve plexus along the spine and finish with fascial balancing so clients leave centered and stay that way

• Recognize transference, the pain and emotion you pick up from the people around you, and unlock it in yourself.

• Learn to read and manage your own autonomic responses. 

Who this is for: This introductory course is for anyone who wants to take a deep dive into the material, whether you are a manual therapist, physical therapist, chiropractor, osteopath, massage therapist, or bodyworker looking for an objective way to find the primary source of dysfunction instead of treating where it hurts. Our advanced course is designed specifically for manual therapists.

This advanced course builds on neural reset training but can also be taken as a stand-alone intensive. It is designed for experienced manual therapists who are ready to work with complex anatomical systems through the Tetherwork approach. Some prior Tetherwork experience is recommended.

The course will focus on how to manually assess and treat the following structures and systems with Tetherwork:

• The brachial plexus

• The lumbar plexus

• The sacral plexus

• The nerves of the pelvis, including the pudendal and obturator regions

• The dura, from the eyeball to the coccyx

• Physical patterns associated with sexual trauma (to be treated with the Neural Reset technique)

• Concussions using a periosteal and dural approach

• The Heart Tree, including the arterial system from the heart into the arms and legs, as well as the vena cava

• The Portal Tree, including the venous systems of the liver, pancreas, stomach, spleen, omentums, mesenteric veins, and pathways into the legs

• The nerves, arteries, and veins of the uterus, ovaries, testicles, bladder, and rectum

• The throat, esophagus, and stomach

• The lungs, kidneys, and adrenal glands

• The bones through the periosteum

• The parasympathetic nervous system

This will be a serious advanced manual therapy event. Every participant will receive a complete technique manual containing the treatment procedures and technique photographs that are meant to be used during your treatment sessions.

Participants should arrive with a solid anatomical foundation. I will provide a what-to-study list prior and anatomy lecture video prior to class to help you prepare.

This course is intended for manual therapists who want to move beyond basic muscular treatment and learn how to work with the nervous, vascular, dural, visceral, periosteal, and autonomic systems through Tetherwork.  These are also all the systems we cover during the full Tetherwork Neural Reset treatment in our clinic.   The expectation is to teach you how to follow the process and use the manual, not memorize all of these treatments.  The manual provides all the information you will need to repeat these processes.  With practice in testing and treating, the processes provided will be superseded by your own skill set.

Scars and Adhesions (16 CEUs)
An 16-hour course in Tetherwork and exercise focused on release of scars and adhesions. Tetherwork uses objective testing to identify the primary area of dysfunction and applies targeted manual therapy to nerves, veins, and arteries before addressing surrounding structures. Learn to assess and treat scars and the deep dysfunction using this approach alongside effective movement and stabilization strategies.
